Northwestern Mutual, CUNA Mutual co-lead $12.3M investment in Cleveland startup

Two of Wisconsin’s largest financial services companies are investing in a Cleveland startup that developed a tech platform where college students can refinance their loans. The venture capital arms of Northwestern Mutual, the financial services and life insurance company in Milwaukee, and CUNA Mutual, the Madison company that provides insurance products to more than 95% of U.S. credit unions, co-led a $12.3 million Series A round in Splash Financial, the startup announced Tuesday.

The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase of remote IT jobs, initially outsourced abroad, being relocated back to the U.S. Tim Bryan, CEO at GalaxE. Solutions, weighs in.
