The former BMO Harris bank, which was burned in 2016, now houses Sherman Phoenix. Several new businesses will occupy three floors of retail space.

American Family Insurance is offering $50,000 to support the STEAM & Dream program at Milwaukee’s Sherman Phoenix, which would be a program to support K-12 students and young adults interested in science, technology, engineering, arts and math.

A spokesperson for American Family Insurance said details are still being worked out and Leana Nakielski, American Family's strategic partnerships director, was unavailable to discuss it Tuesday afternoon.

In a statement, Juli Kaufmann, a co-developer of the Sherman Phoenix, said working with American Family insurance “creates a significant response to what our neighbors have identified as a need.”

The program will begin sometime in 2020.
