Museum of the Moon, a 23-foot inflatable moon made with NASA images, hangs over the water at Leeds Dock in England. The artwork is coming to Milwaukee Aug. 9.

A 23-foot replica of Earth's moon will be raised above Catalano Square in the Historic Third Ward Aug. 9 as part of a pop-up festival celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing.

The moon will be suspended above the park from a crane for the Under One Moon pop-up festival Aug. 9 to 11. The inflatable artwork, Museum of the Moon, was made with NASA photography, giving a hyper-real view of the lunar surface.

Museum of the Moon, created by United Kingdom-based artist Luke Jerram, has been touring the world since 2016.

The weekend-long festival will have music, dance, shuffleboard, food, vendors and chalk art. Former NASA Astronaut and U.S. Navy Captain Wendy Lawrence, who logged more than 51 days in space, will speak at the festival Aug. 11. Other space experts and artists will appear throughout the festival.

Nonprofit Black Box Fund is producing Under One Moon with the support of The Historic Third Ward Association, Kelly Construction & Design LLC, Milwaukee Artist Resource Network and Mod Gen.

A full schedule for Under One Moon can be viewed on the event's Facebook page.
